TURNBULL MINISTRY WELCOMED
The nation’s pharmaceutical wholesalers welcome the return of the Coalition government and the appointment of the Turnbull Ministry.
“The final numbers for those elected to the Parliament may have been uncertain for a while, but what Australians can always count on is that NPSA members are delivering the nation’s medicines to all pharmacies and hospitals day in, day out without fail,” said NPSA Chairman, Mark Hooper.
“We are very pleased that Sussan Ley has been re-appointed as Minister for Health, Aged Care and Sport. We are encouraged that she will continue to be ably served by Assistant Minister Ken Wyatt and will now be supported by Dr David Gillespie as Minister for Rural Health,” Mr Hooper said.
“We look forward to the release of the Discussion Paper on the Review of Pharmacy Remuneration and Regulation and to providing our input. We believe there needs to be a considered review of the economics and viability of pharmaceutical wholesaling and the CSO because, in spite of substantial investment to improve efficiency, full-line wholesalers continue to face increasing costs, while the wholesale margin delivers declining revenue,” Mr Hooper said.
