Medicines distribution matters. The Journey of medicines to patients.

Investment

Managing Australia’s medicines is increasingly complex, and advanced technologies and systems are in place to coordinate their safe, reliable and equitable distribution into the community.

NPSA members have invested more than $750M in infrastructure and innovation in the past five years. This includes high-tech distribution facilities equipped with significant cold storage capability to handle cold chain medicines and vaccines, advanced automation and highly secure strongrooms to manage high value medicines and drugs of dependence. This investment has provided ongoing improvements in productivity, operating efficiencies and enhanced supply chain security.

Our capability in dedicated health logistics was again recognised in June 2020 when NPSA member companies secured renewed government funding for five years as part of the Community Service Obligation (CSO) and the 7th Community Pharmacy Agreement (7CPA).
